Three ways to take your map editing to the next level

Next time you’re updating hours or changing the status of a business on Google Maps, don’t forget that there are some other types of edits you can make to ensure each business is as up-to-date as possible. Read on for three that you can quickly and easily try now on Google Maps.

1. Edit places located within larger places

Many places on Google Maps are actually located within another larger place. There are relationships between these places like a store within a shopping mall or a pharmacy section inside a department store. You can indicate that an independent boutique is located inside of a larger shopping center to help provide further details for shoppers. Adding this sort of information can help people on Google Maps.

2. Add or edit attributes

While some attributes are only available to change by the business-owners in Google My Business, there are subjective attributes you can add to a business. If you are a Local Guide who also happens to manage a business, you can consider updating attributes like “Outdoor seating” or “women-led.” This will not only help the businesses find new customers, but it will also help others find new places when searching for safe spaces on Google Search.

3. Share the most helpful types of photos

Even if you have photographed a place in the past, sharing updated photos that depict changes these businesses have made is important. For example, if a restaurant you love has recently installed outdoor seating with dividers and heaters, it would be helpful to share an image of the updated setting for those choosing places to eat at this time. Sharing screenshots is not recommended on Google Maps, so it’s important to keep in mind what types of photos will be most helpful to others at this time.

Do you have any tips for ways you can improve the Map with your edits? How would you tell other Local Guides to take their map editing to the next level? Share your ideas in the comments below.

Well, everytime I go to places, the first is checking its g maps. Most of them didn’t update their operational hours and also the phone number. I found it especially ib the chain business. The phone number is in the main office. It can be in Jakarta while the business restaurant is in Yogya, it takes a lot of money to call just for order. And when I edit with local mobile phone number, it works not. Need your suggestion…

Hey @KatieMcBroom check your post there is no GIF caption as you stated!!!.

Then , I just want to tell you that the most important of editing in the maps is ,when a business owner changes his store name with a new sign, the approval of the new editing takes very long time, and it’s mostly rejected! There is no fast approval to a LGs’ maps’ editing! A very slow maps’ editing approval is not a maps’ improvement !

How about maps’ roads additions? Isn’t it a maps improvement when adding new roads in the map?

To me, I am still waiting additions of a bundle of roads to be approved, and I am not receiving either a roads additions rejections or approval! Well , if I receive an approval of any kind of maps’ editing, then we can say here we improved something in the maps like ( adding roads, changing businesses names, or a new location movement of same old business location…etc)

And one of the most important of the maps improvement is , a ( Map Maker ) . I am always busy with moving a businesses to their new locations when they missed their business location far from the right one, but unfortunately there is no fast either rejections or approval. Well, at least if I receive a rejections to my maps editing, I could go back and re- edit again to the same rejected editing of the place. last year I was receiving a good roads additions approval, but I don’t receive any more.

This is what I wanted to say it from very long time, now I got the chance and I said it.

If we all want to improve the Maps, we must receive a results after our editing.

Very Respectfully

THANK YOU

Saludos.
