Caption Thousand Pillared Temple Hanamkonda Warangal Telangana India.
Thousand Pillared Temple also known as Rudreshwara swamy Temple is quite spectacular and known for its magnificent Architecture. Located about 6 Kms from Warangal in the earlier capital of Kakatiya that is Hanamkonda, Telangana. It was built during the rule of Ganpatideva by Rudra-I, according to an inscription on a stone pillar, in 1163 AD. It’s built on an elevated platform. It was a masterpiece of Kakatiyas and excellent example of their faith in all the major Deities as this temple was dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Surya all are placed in three sanctums also known as Trikutalayam which are arranged around a central hall known as Ranga Mandapa. Its pillars are richly carved and decorated which are supporting the roof, ceilings are narrating the mythical stories in the form of carvings and many other religious features are just exclusive. Incredible work of those architects is still fascinating the spectators. A rectangular stepped Pushkarini, an entrance in the East and a massive pillared hall all are exclusive in variety and in pattern, at the western side of the ruin. As without Nandi, Lord Shiva’s temple remain incomplete, Nandi is carved on a black polished granite. Unique structure was constructed on a raised platform in star shaped with many small sanctums with Lingas, complete structure with 1000 pillars and designed in a way that one can see other sanctum without any obstruction. It had faced many invasions even from Delhi Sultan but mostly it was damaged by the earth quake of 17th-century. Now Archaeological Survey is putting the efforts to restore in its original shape as still work is in progress. This is a very poplar place among the film makers and Kakatiya Festival is celebrated here.
There are many attractions for visitors close to the temple like Warangal Fort, Ekasila, Bhadrakali Temple, Padmakshi Temple etc and many good retaurants including famous Udipi country restaurants, so visit is an opportunity to enjoy the ancient Architecture and traditional cuisines. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the existing temple and it is a protected Historical Monument Of National Importance.

Thanks Dear, indeed I enjoyed the opportunity of temples tour of Cambodia. These are the renowned temples of 12th century and sculptures were crafted by Greeks. Angkor Wat was dedicated to Vishnu later official religion was Buddhism and was converted to Buddhist temple. Mostly ancient temples remain invisible for centuries, why, I didn’t understand. I am very much inspired by your graceful appreciation and attention and your post is remarkable, thanks.
