Sometimes it is so important for people in certain situations that if they can find just any information about a place which they want to visit for certain business or they did not know if it existed in their neighbourhood this whole time. I love to share information like this on google maps rather than taking pictures of most popular spots and sharing while pictures of those place are in abundance both on google maps and all over internet.
I am working as a consultant at Deloitte Consulting. Whenever I am not traveling to clients and get the chance to work from home office location. I always want to try something good for lunch (which is not easy to find especially when you are an Indian vegetarian which you can think of Western vegan who can also consume milk products but not eggs). I always use google maps to find out those place which I already stereotyped as quite butchery places by just looking at them but happen to find interesting vegan options from the reviews on google maps.
There is one very interesting hidden place I found (not from google maps but through the recommendation from colleagues) is in the basement of the city hall of Hannover called ‘Casino am Neues Rathaus’. Now there are couple of interesting things about this place. First of all, it is located in the most famous building of the city. Secondly, even natives don’t know about this place. This place serves as the canteen for the employees of city hall but as it is a public building they have to also except people from outside. Another interesting fact is that they always have one vegetarian (though mostly contains eggs as its German Vegetarian) and a couple of non-vegetarian dishes. They have got a nice salad bar and a different kinds of desserts and drinks including my favourite freshly squeezed orange juice. I mainly stick to salad here though.
I tried to add this place to google maps so I can bring this place to the attention to locals but apparently Google maps did not except this addition probably simply because people who were needed to authenticate the existence of this place did not that place exist but I am sure in future it will be there on Google maps.
One of the most popular picture I have added was of place which is not that popular or attractive. Its an Afro-Asia-Tamil grocery store run by people from Sri Lanka. Every time I want to visit this place (bit far from where I live) I wanted to make sure if it is really open on weekends. But there was no information about timing on google maps. So I decided that this time I visit I will take a picture of their printed opening hours and post it on maps. so I did that and next step was to add hours digitally which now anyone can approve verifying through pictures. This picture was visited 115,412 times and helped people to make sure if its open so they plan their visit more efficiently.
