This volcano is called "El Consentido".

The acatenango volcano is a popular tourist attraction for those who like to go hiking. It has excellent views towards the Guatemalan volcanic chain and towards the imposing Volcán de Fuego (active), perhaps because of this it is called “El Consentido”.

It is the third highest volcano in Guatemala and is in an inactive state. Its difficulty in ascent is medium high. The estimated time to reach the summit is between 3 and 5 hours depending on the physical condition of each person and you must be prepared because sometimes the temperature in this place drops to -5 degrees.

There are several tour operators and travel agencies that offer the service of transfers and professional guides that will offer you a unique experience.

I share a video about my experience in this volcano.

Looks like the Acatenango volcano is the perfect hiking destination for a weekend getaway, @Coneteve_Guate . :slight_smile:

Is there a place to sleep over at the top? Or do you have to go up and come back down on the same day?

@DeniGu

Se puede acampar en el cráter, pero debido a la dureza del frio, se costumbra acampar en un lugar previo a la cima.

Recomiendo dos dias para este destino, ver el amanecer desde la cumbre y las explosiones del volcán vecino te robará el aliento.

It really must be a fantastic view, @Coneteve_Guate .

I’ve never seen a volcano erupt, isn’t it scary?

The only volcanoes I’ve been close to are Mount Vesuvius and Mount Fuji, but luckily, they’re both not very active. :slight_smile:
