This is how I became a local guide and ever since I've been doing it

One fine day, I was doggedly following Google Maps, trying to get to a location in the capital city of Delhi. It seemed like the otherwise trustworthy map was only succeeding in leading me to dead ends or non-existent turns. Finally, falling back on human instincts, I approached some locals who expertly pointed me in the right direction, finally getting me to my elusive destination. I went back to the map to see if there was some way to edit it and help out the next poor sod who tries to get here - and voila! That’s when my teenage brain registered that we could edit Maps. From that day onwards, there’s been no looking back for me. India’s bylanes are difficult to navigate as is, so to make this rigour a little easier has been a legitimate pass time for me. Also, there is the fact that locals know the place like the back of their hands. It’s ingenious to exploit that knowledge source and use it to help others. From locations of bus stops in quaint villages, to who sells the best Butter Chicken in Old Delhi, this journey has been a treat to discover and an even bigger treat to share with the Internet.
