Google Maps is such a useful tool for travellers in many parts of my country. Even though Ghana is a peaceful country, there are still some bad nuts, just like other countries in the world.
This is so because there are some areas where it’s very dangerous to ask for directions when you are a stranger. There are people who guinuely do not know the place you are asking directions to, but they intentionally direct you anyway, in the name of being nice to you. At the end of the day, you will discover you are in a totally different location.
There are others too who are criminals and if you should ask them for directions, they will misdirect you to places where their counterparts are hiding and before you realize, you are in the hands of criminals who might rob you or rape you if you are a lady.
Thank God for Google Maps. Now wherever you are going, you can look for the directions without asking anyone who might misdirect you into trouble. This is one of the reasons why I am proud to be a Local Guide in Ghana. There are lots of places to be added on the map, and from my observations, the Local Guides here are few and so it’s my aim to help have more people join while I contribute myself. If at Level 5 in less than one year I was among the top 5% of Local Guides in Accra, it should tell you there are more to be done.
