I was a local guide since the age of 5! You may say “No!” But give me time to explain my journey as a local guide and a reviewer whose objective is to save life.
I was born in Kitui county, Kenya, in countryside where there are no hospitals, good roads and the population is scarce. So any stranger who visited us and wanted to the way to one of our neighbors would depend on us children to ‘escort’ him to neighbor’s home.
We did that for free. Our father knew that I was always ready to show people the best ways to take. At the same time, we would walk with the stranger talking especially about trees, school, other neighbors names and so forth. I would show him the best paths take and warn him against paths which he should never take as they were dangerous due to wild animals, especially snakes.
Sometimes we used first to welcome the stranger and invite him for some food. In most cases it was ‘githeri,’ a cooked mixture of maize and pigeon peas. That would be accompanied with some tea and avocado.
It was not until last year that one friend of mine told me that I could add places in the google map and even write helpful reviews. I realized I could continue with my hobby as a ‘local guide.’ Yes a digital local guide, for that matter!
Since my objective is to help, I decided that I would write long helpful reviews. I like writing reviews on hospitals for I know a hospital can save life. People who visit my town or are transferred to my town usually such for the best hospital or the hospital which offer certain services. Unless there is a good review, one could lose life. And who knows how many lives I have saved.
Yes, now I am 35 years old. And because I was a local guide since from the age of 5, I have an experience or 30 years in this field. I love writing reviews that can save life! Who can deny me a Super Master Reviewer badge if available?
