Thirst quest for water to survive

2015 pack of 5 wolves visited France Marseilles for maiden Euro Trip. We decided to have a small trekkat Massif des Calanques. Its a wild and rugged terrain some good 4 km steep hike and total distance to cover 20km

We had taken only 5 water bottles of 200 ml in scorching summer heat of 30 degrees.

While reaching the ocean it was scenic, we were excited, we did hike and walk with full enthusiasm and completed 4 bottles.

Now comes the time for returning at 4 pm in afternoon with only bottle remaining.

Now the survival skills kicks in with 200 ml in 30 degrees of steep trek between 5 wolves. We see other travelers / locals come well prepared and have ample amount of water for hydration and we are feeling we are just about to die.

Somehow we survived, one touch of water to lips and tongue and holding the rest back in bottle. It was 3 hour hike back but for us it seemed end of the world.

There are no shops or water dispenser or tap in the national park to maintain the natural beauty.

We somehow managed and forgot to click pictures in the return journey. (i guess thats human tendency). we reach the exit gate to see the only shop in the vicinity selling water is about to close and last few seconds. We ran and ran like Usain bolt, trust me that in the condition we were in we could have beaten Usain Bolt (thats what i do in my dreams). I was the one to reach first and purchased the whole crate and drank like its pure drop of holy water …

That day we learnt plan the trek, keep ample waters in your bags and always have a backup / contingency plan.
