I was thinking of starting a quarterly meetup in Victoria, BC - maybe taking a poll with other guides or rotating who gets to pick and try out a different restaurant each time and just compare notes about all the awesomeness that can be found here and heck … maybe a little awesomeness from abroad.
Wondering how to get that started, if there would be any interest, etc.
Hello @BeanstalkIM , welcome to Local Guides Connect. It’s very nice that you are thinking about hosting a meetup. To organize your first meetup can be a challenge, but it’s amusing. I’ll share with you some official links about meetups, but before that, I’d like to share my experience about hosting (I’ve hosted 3, so far) and attending (a dozen, this year) meetups
My best advice for you is: simply do that. Follow the rules, create your meetup, and use both Local Guides Connect and your Social Media to promote it. Invite some friends (maybe they can be or become a Local Guide too) and have fun.
I noticed that you are new on Connect, so another great way to get to know people (even from your area) is being more active here. Following this link, you can learn How to organize a successful meet-up.,
It is also a good idea, try to search for meetups being hosted in your city or country, if you can manage to attend, search for them using your city name or country name, in this link Join a meet-up
Hi @BeanstalkIM good on you for starting to organise a meetup, you should also make a meetup entry here https://maps.google.com/localguides/meetup so that important details like location, time and date and a description of your proposed Meetup are known to everyone who might like to come along.
