You have to see it (or rather FEEL it) to understand what the hype is all about. There is a reason why people from all over the world folk in to see the Oia sunset. It’s magical. Trudging up the rough steps, pushing through the crowds to find a perfect spot, restaurants giving out “deals” claiming to have ideal spots (hence making a fortune), cruises tailored for the event with dinner and champagne,
young ladies in all their flowing dresses and tons of make-up just to have a photoshoot experience in this sunset- well, surely there must be something in it.
I felt a calmness descend on me even amidst the bustling crowd just gazing over the caldera and see the golden rays dripping into the striking azure of the sea beneath. This amalgamation of colour and bustle creates a surreal atmosphere when you long to get away from the daily hassle and stress of city life.
