This year it feels really fast. After last year I was selected to join Connect Live, but failed to get a visa after I tried it twice and finally failed to go to San Jose. It really hurts, after so much effort I have to do. But, that did not stop me with the Batu Local Guides community. My wife, @Annisa1208, has truly given me extraordinary motivation. Together, we held a series of meet-ups in our hometown.
With supporters of the Sabers Pungli movement, we carried the Local Guides Clean The World hashtag and met many people from different communities. We ate together at the activity site, with a banana leaf plate, while enjoying the beauty of nature. Some of our activities :
- When the Young Generation Is Involved in the Environmental Care
- When the Hakka tribe from Taiwan joined in environmental care
- When We Found Dead Animals On The River But Keep Smiling
- [RECAP] Batu Local Guides: Sabers Camp Nusantara
Together with members of Batu Local Guides, we carry out various types of meet-ups with quite a number of sponsors who are familiar with the existence of our community in Batu City:
- [RECAP] Have Fun With The Predators
- [RECAP] Enjoy The Twilight On The Rooftop
- [RECAP] Batu Local Guides: Enjoy the atmosphere of De Bamboo
- [RECAP] Batu Local Guides: Dinner At The Height Of Batu
- [RECAP] Batu Local Guides: Exploring The Beauty Of Kekep
- [RECAP] Batu Local Guides 3rd Anniversary - [RECAP] Batu Local Guides: Weekend At Lettuce
- [RECAP] Batu Local Guides: Explore Millennial Glow Garden
I experienced a pretty terrible incident when I became a host meet-up Have Fun With The Predators. At that time, with the supervision of a trained handler, I tried a selfie with a very large crocodile. With very slow movements, I managed to take a selfie. But, a few seconds later when I turned around, the crocodile suddenly moved quickly to attack me. Fortunately only the tip of his nose touched my butt. My wife, who recorded the incident as seen in the following video, screamed hysterically. It was a very valuable experience for all of us to always be careful and maintain safety every time we hold a meet-up. And that incident did not make me stop to continue my activities.
To all of you, Local Guides from all over the world. Let’s continue to contribute, whatever it is. Don’t hesitate to start the meet-up. Take it along with the name of your community, and don’t forget to share it on social media. And take a good chance when other communities invite you to attend their activities. There is no loss in providing support to other communities, as long as we don’t let go of our attributes as Local Guides. There will be many new experiences out there. With good intentions, rest assured that what you do will be useful for others. And that would be an unexpected fortune door, believe me.
Best regards, Brian
