My friends and I came together as a one off thing and decided to Hike Mt. Longonot in Kenya, after the hike, though exhausted, we thought it would be a great idea to make it something frequent. That was back in June 2017.
Initially I used to travel (I still do) mainly for work. You know, workshops, meetings and conferences with little time spared to make a detour to explore (I’m young - I need this ha ha) the rest of these cities other than the air conditioned boardrooms and buffet lunches.
Interesting thing is that, in one way or the other, I made sure that I squeezed some time (1 - 2 hours) just to get the better of these places. Even if it mean’t waking up early to take a jog around the city or staying up late exploring the nightlife of these places.
When something is pleasant and gives you peace of mind you want to pack it up in one of your memory boxes and run to it when stressed. The best way I’ve always done that is to take pictures. Landscapes, sunrises, sunsets, culture shocks, festivals, unique architectural marvels and even just a well lit air conditioned boardrooms, you name it.
I’ve tried to squeeze time for all this, and I must say, it has been worth every second.
Currently we have a team of about 30 from the 7 pioneers of what we’ve come to refer to as The TREK and FUN. We have written blogs - https://thetrek.co.ke/, posted on Instagram - thetrek_ke, ‘Facebooked’ - The TREK and FUN. and currently starting a YouTube channel - The Trek Kenya. At a personal level I have been posting photos on local guides and also given reviews of places I have been with and before The TREK and also places near me. I think it is the best thing I can do as an adventurer. SHARE what my eyes have seen.
