In 2021, I still enjoy using Nikon equipment. My first camera when I was 16 was a (35mm film) Olympus Trip 35 that had a solar ring to power the camera, perhaps quiet innovative for 1973, it was a joy to use. Photography for me is about capturing Time and Space and in today’s world about creating portals for others to explore and understand the landscape above and below the liquid surface that we know today as rivers, lakes, seas and oceans. We all need to understand where the water flows in the forest of time and space. MARS Rovers today search for life and the mystery of the waters of Mars. Today, I search and explore our planet in my BRC - my Big Red Canoe known as Wonder and Curiosity, a 5.5meter (18 foot) Wivenhoe Class Canoe made by the One Tree Canoe Company on the Brisbane River at Fernvale, which is about 2 and a half hours drive from where I live at Mount Mellum on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. The inspiration in my life is driven by the wonder of the interaction between the landscape and the light that streams from time and space. I enjoy landscape photographic imagery, including still and video. I have explored this curiosity in the realms of the underwater water world where natural light photography drove my imagery. In the early 1980s (1981-1985) while stationed as Lighthouse Keeper at Lady Elliot Island I had the opportunity to use the newly released Nikonos Underwater equipment. I first used the Nikonos IV cameras which were the new automatic cameras of their day, then I used the Nikonos V. I used a number of these cameras and used to SCUBA dive with two Nikonos cameras both with 15mm (wide angle) Lens that were optically made for the underwater world. I still have these film cameras. My film stock included the slide film 200 Ektachrome which I was able to develop on the Island with the Kodak E6 processing. I set a system to process eight rolls at a time and this allowed on Island reproduction of these underwater slides. On Island slide shows from the day became a nightly event at the resort at Lady Elliot Island. For my land photography I used a Nikon F3T with a number of lens, my favourite was the nikon 20mm lens that on land had a similar field of view, to that which I used underwater. I enjoyed and still do today enjoy using wide angle lenses.

Thank you to the people who have read, commented or interacted with my first post. I still have to work my way around the connect system, but it seems well thought out and a great way to bring people together in a peaceful and respectful way from across the world. I hope that the images, comments and stories that I share will help build a civil and peaceful society with connected communities from across the world.
