The Wildlife Walk to Treasure Mother Nature

The Wildlife Walk to Treasure Mother Nature

Australia is the 6th largest country in the world. However majority of its land is not fertile for farming. In fact, it is very droughty and harsh. Farming is mainly seen along the coastal lines of the country. Other parts specially the centre are not suitable for crops. Many types of fruit trees and vegetables can’t survive the dry weather and very rocky soil in those areas. If you visit Australia, you will notice Australia native vegetation and floral system is very different. Native plants like gum trees always look grey and dry. Tree leaves are not as green as the ones you see in the rest of the world. Their bark looks very rough as well. All of these different features of Australia native plants help them adapt and survive well against harsh weather and soil. As mentioned above gum tree is Austrlian native plant although nowadays they can be found in many other parts of the world like Asia. Gum tree has a strong connection with inigenous people that it forms a big part of Australian culture. They are depicted in novels, paintings and movies. Near where I live there is a place called Coombabah Lakeland Reservation. It is a wonderful place for many outdoor activities such as wildlife encountering, walking, hiking, photographing and more. It is only 5 minute drive from Southport which is the city CBD. How good that is when we can have a natural land in the city centre. Once you pass the gate into the reservation, everything becomes quiet and in front of you trees, animals, grass start appearing. Last Saturday, the City Council organized a wildlife walk for anyone intetested in this kind of activity. I couldn’t help joining jn the walk which started at 8 am. Oh my goodness, how refreshing it was. I felt healthy, stress free, rewinded plus learning new things about Australian native animals. Here are some photos from my wildlife walk. Hope you enjoy. Have a beautiful weekend everyone.

Love you all as always.

@AnuradhaP thank you. Probably due to vast distance from the coastal line to the central regions plus the risk of being stuck somewhere in the middle of nowhere not many people like to go out there. But lots if documentary films and photos have shown the harsh conditions of the central regions. The greeny looking is because we have lately had good rains that we needed. Everything looks so green. Regards

@VijayBhasker thank you. It is very kind of you. The best time to visit would be the last 2 months of Autumn and Spring time. In genetal the weather here is sub-tropical so it is nice almost all the year round except February and March when it is hot and humid. Regards

@ArtyZ thank you. You are very observing. Kangaroos are very often seen in groups of more than 2 members. However not sure why that Saturday many kangaroo couples were by themselves. Probably it is mating season. Not sure. Enjoy your weekends. Regards
