The Waterfall Shypit, Gemba Mount, Carpathians, Ukraine

The Waterfall Shypit (Ukrainian Шипіт; translation as "whisper”) is located on the Pylypets River, Mount Gemba

(My post about Gemba Mount: https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/Gemba-Mount-Carpathians-Ukraine/m-p/1873710#M531871), about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the village of Pylypets, Mizhhiria Raion, Zakarpattia Oblast of western Ukraine. The waterfall is 14 metres (46 ft) high.

There is the legend about this waterfall and its name:

A long time ago a beautiful girl named Mariika lived in the village Pylypets, with whom a young guy Ivan was in love. Mariika was the daughter of rich parents, and Ivan was an ordinary poor man. The girl’s family was against their meetings. The lovers had to meet in a secret place, on the mountain under the Borzhava meadow. Over time, Mariika’s mother learned about the place of their meetings. She began to curse the young couple in a fit of anger. From her rage began a big downpour with lightning and thunder, the tumultuous streams from which descended from the meadows and they carried Mariika and Ivan away to the abyss. A waterfall arose on their way to death and it separated the beloveds. They disappeared into the noisy foam of mountain streams.

Since then, the girl’s mother comes to this place and mourns her misconduct, regretting the ruined life of Mariika. One night on Ivana Kupala, a woman heard the voice of her daughter, who seemed to whisper the words of love to Ivan. Hence the unique name of the waterfall Shipot.

@Ant_Bad_Yogi The waterfall isn’t so large and there are a lot of people looking at it, but the places around are very beautiful and one can walk around or climb the mountain Gemba.

@nanik_rf It’s a pity, I have missed your comment. Don’t forget to mention a person who you are speaking with: symbol @ and the name.

Thank you for your warm words. What concerns your question, the most of famous places have their stories. Don’t think people really believe them of course, just beautiful fairy-tale, which makes a place unusual and romantic. People like fairy-tales :slightly_smiling_face:
