The Vegetarian Gastronomy Guide to Paris

If you’ve been to Paris you know the struggle to find good vegetarian food in the City! Paris is a very unique city, though cosmopolitan, it hasn’t lost its cultural charm to modern day globalisation. The city is still very much “French” in many ways which is what makes it so special!

When I turned vegetarian after my first year living in Paris, I had a difficult time finding a good restaurant with vegetarian options while going out with friends. Like the French cuisine, there were not many options for vegetarians at local restaurants which are the heart of gastronomic scene in the city. I felt let down that the most popular city does not cater well to a vegetarian consumer.

Hence I started by asking around friends and locals for suggestions, following many food bloggers on Instagram and connecting with local vegetarians for restaurants which they could recommend for good vegetarian food. What started with a handful of restaurants grew into a long list, with not just French, but many other cuisines as well. Using google maps to make the list was by far the best decision. It was so convenient to pick a restaurant based on my location, from my list of “want to go”. I was so grateful to have the choice of restaurants, I started to review them and post it on social media.

It was a hit among my friends at the university who had, like me, faced difficulties in finding good vegetarian food. I realised how all these restaurants which existed, but there was no system or a network by which a vegetarian was aware of it. When I learnt my reviews of restaurants were valued, I decided to compile a list on google maps with all the recommended and some good restaurants I found myself, and make it available to everyone who wishes to enjoy good food in the beautiful city of Paris!
