The Top 3 Roast Chicken Restaurants in Montreal

I love roast chicken a lot so I have tried many places, and voila here’re my top 3 roast chicken places in Montreal.

1. Coco Rico (My no.1 choice!)
I would say that Coco Rico is so far my favorite roast chicken place in Montreal. I have visited this place so many times, and it never disappoints me. The roast chicken, of course, is a must try! It is perfectly cooked, with golden crispy skin and juicy meat. They also have ribs and pork, but I would say that the best is still chicken. And one thing I like about Coco Rico is that they have many combo sets, so you can have chicken, ribs, or other meats at once, with a fair price. They also have potatoes, salad, egg tarts, etc., things you can find in typical Portuguese restaurants. Their sandwiches are good too. Staff is kind and friendly. Service is fast and efficient, and many people take out. They do not have many seats, nor tables, but only have some high standing chairs by the wall with mirror glass.

2. Rotisserie Romados
They have awesome roast chicken and salads, indeed a good place to have a satisfying meal! They also sell bread, egg tarts, and other desserts.

3. Ma Poule Mouillée
A very popular chicken place in Montreal. Big portion with reasonable price. It’s right across the famous poutine place, La Banquise, and is very close to the Parc La Fontaine.

BONUS! Serrano Bar-B-Q

A comforting roast chicken place in Mile-End. Since the store is quite small and doesn’t have many seats, I always takeout. By the way, their sandwiches are great too!

Hello @ChanneLing ,

Thanks for sharing this great post with us!

It’s very useful if someone is visiting Montreal soon. I would try all these restaurants, because these dishes looks amazing. I love when a chicken has crispy skin and the meat is juicy enough. Is that mac&cheese on the side of your first photo? I can definitelly agree that the portions are huge.

Last time, I had some grilled pork with potato and spicy tomato dip, it was delicious.

I vote for all 3 options, @ChanneLing ! As long as the chicken is juicy and/or has some crispy skin I am ready to dig in. Love the photos and descriptions!

@Petra_M Awww the grilled pork looks so yum!

The side dish is macaroni salad and it’s pretty typical here. I ain’t sure if it’s a Portuguese thing or a Montrealais thing, maybe the later one ;).

Right on @ChanneLing ! As a fellow Montrealer and “charcoal-bird-roasted-to-perfection” aficionado, I also truly enjoy Coco Rico more than the norm!

Even though it can be frustrating debating with friends on which of the aforementioned spots in your post is best, the shear deliciousness of Coco Rico’s moist, perfectly golden small potatoes make this place 1st over Romados (my 2nd favourite roasted chicken restaurant in Montreal). As a bonus, Coco Rico also serves up suckling pig which can be a nice alternative at times.

Thanks for posting this Top 3!

Best,

Ben

Hi @bngold , Thanks a lot!

I’ve tried their chicken, pork, and ribs, but have never tried their suckling pig. Is it on the regular menu? I remembered once the staff said they have it and asked me if I wanna have some. It was a pity that I didn’t because that’s the only time I saw they have it. Really hope I can have another chance to try some!
