The times they aren't a-changing

One of our local Fish & Chip shops is the excellent Chippy Bank in Ulverston, a family-run business now in its 45th year, and I must say, it is an exceptional dining experience. As a lover of fish and chips, I have high standards when it comes to finding the perfect chippy, and Chippy Bank does not disappoint.
However, they think their business is suffering due to a Google Map issue. What? How can that be?

They open twice a day (for lunch and then for evening meals).
Monday- Saturday
11.30am-1.30pm
4.30pm- 8.30pm

The issue they found is that Google Maps seems to only allows ONE opening period per day so it only shows 11.30am-1.30pm each day and gives the impression that those are the ONLY times they are open as the evening opening time is missed.
I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this issue or if any Googlers could offer them any advice.
Chippy Bank in Ulverston is a gem of a fish and chip shop. With its top-notch food, friendly service, inviting atmosphere, and reasonable prices, it’s a must-visit for any fish and chips enthusiast, it would be a shame for people to miss out on such a wonderful dining experience because of a Google Maps issue.

Hi @RussKH

This is not true, there are business with even three different opening period in a day (e.g. breakfast, lunch and dinner).

Most probably the business has no idea about how to do it.

As you can read in Edit business information in Google MapsIf a place has additional open or closed hours, like a lunch break in the middle of the day, select Add hours to fill in the details.

Here below the step by step procedure that every Local Guide can follow to update the opening time:

  • Suggest an edit of the opening time. The next screenshot show how the edit page appears

  • Tap on Edit all hours

  • Tap once on Sunday to removing that day from the list then add the first opening time of the day.
  • Then tap on Add Hours and add the second opening time. At the end tap on save

  • Check the changes that you are submitting and, I’d everything is fine, just submit the edit.

Now you can see your suggestion on the listing of the business. As you see on the screenshot the previous opening time was confirmed by the business a few days ago.

It means that most probably my edit will be rejected, but the business has also the possibility to accept an edit suggested by a user

Hope you’re able to feed that back to the owners @RussKH or make the edit yourself too if @ErmesT edit gets rejected.

By the way, I wanted to find out your opinion on what makes a good fish & chips? For me, besides the quality of the ingredients, I like a crispy and light batter that’s not too oily… almost like a tempura style. I don’t mind salt and vinegar (probably the only dish that I would add vinegar to) but I do like my chili sauce… so when I’m at home, I would add a generous dash of chili sauce. :joy: I know… the travesty!!
