Cipailova microdistrict where I live is an interesting place to support small businesses.
Planned to be a residential neighbourhood for the nearby UfaChem Industrial territory technicians and their families.
Over time, thousand of small businesses have come to cater for the need of the community .
Yet , there lot of challenges and threats from big businesses who are coming lately to the area.
First , it was the auto dealer ; Cadillac , ford ,Kia , Honda , Nissan, Peugeot who were setting up showroom to sell cars to the middle class in neighbourhood.
later on , Magnit mega market and Okei Supermarket follow suit but stay along the express way that passes through the neighbourhood.
Before we could settle down with the new comers , others began to follow and encroached deeply into the residential area.
Magnit home and cosmetic , Piatroshka ,Moneta and Perekrestok , all swarmed the streets with their multiple stores .
Many smaller businesses who cannot stand the competition have since folded up.
The good news is that there are still thousand small businesses left and which are making us proud .
There are not just surviving but thriving!
They proffer certain advantages over the big businesses ;
1. They offer a customised service which is not easily obtainable at the big supermarkets.
2. They sell products specifically tailored to the local need.
**3.**They stock mostly products from the community and nearby towns.
4. Some open all around the clock.
I do my best to support them , especially those on my street. These businesses are owned by the people I know, some of the owners even live in the same block with me.
Among the few steps , I take to promote them are ;
1. Buying from them during week days and going to the big supermarket on weekends
2. Telling friends about them and the products or services they offer.
3. Placing them on the map and providing relevant information about their products.
