The Story of Every One of Us!

Last 2 years of my life gave me an opportunity to see some beautiful countries of the world, from Norway, Sweden and Denmark to the Great United Kingdom. When I went to Norway the first time, as per my habit, I took a lot of pictures and the location of my phone was on, I got a notification on my phone that whether I want to be a local guide and want to upload my pictures on Google maps? I said hmmm yes, just without knowing that what will happen next.

And that was a start of an unending Journey!

I uploaded some random pictures, just to see how this local guide program works, it also asked me to give review of the places I uploaded the pictures about and I did. After some days I got an email in my Gmail account containing the catchiest line “Asim! Your reviews are making a difference”

That was the tagline which took me to the whole new level of dedication and commitment. Believe me, It gives you an un-explainable feeling when you come to know that your tiny effort became a blessing for someone. And starting from that day, the enthusiasm to upload photos, small videos, giving reviews, adding missing places is increasing with every passing day.

With passage of time, my contributions started becoming more mature and meaningful for my community. What I realized over time is that not everyone around us is blessed with an opportunity to see the world with their own eyes. I love to become the eyes of that community. Now, I take a lot of pictures whenever I go to a new place or city or even a restaurant. Many times I have to use my spare memory card J as I try to capture every special moment. I make small video clips where I feel that still picture will not do the justice with the beauty of the scene.

When I come back, I sort all the pictures and videos, segregate them according to their quality and start uploading them on maps according to their locations.

It is certainly difficult for me to tell what specific i love to share on Google Maps. What I know is that i love to share every bit of the places I visit so that my viewers feel that they were with me on that journey. This is hard to explain what you feel when you come to know that from your little effort, thousands of people in the community get the opportunity to see those beautiful locations which they might not get a chance to see from their own eyes in their life time.

Now, my way of traveling, my way of thinking about journeys, my approach of taking photos, all has been changed all together. Whenever I lift my mobile phone to take a photo, it gives me a feel that I am a cameraman, performing live coverage for hundreds and thousands of people all around the world.

This is more than amazing.

Let me share some of my favorite clicks with you from my travels.

Starting from the beautiful Norway.

And how can i miss Denmark!
