The steps I take to survive various glitches encountered on the Connect site while commenting

Currently, I use the phone to compose comments on several posts.
However, the usual experience is always frustrating.

I have noted the following glitches and have devised some ways to circumvent those.

When I scroll down a message, add code window pops up many a time.

  • Now I practice scrolling by the edge of the covering-case.

Copying a link to some prior post is impossible in the Connect PWA.

  • Through options, click on the “Subscribe to RSS feed” and then look for the first link. Replicate that and paste the clipboard content later on.

Tagging somebody remains a bothersome experience.

  • The moment I select any suggested name, a prompt appears exit or cancel. - Can’t do anything else but click the back button.

If I type @ inadvertently, deleting that is painful. As soon as the backspace arrow touches @, the keyboard vanishes.

  • Tap in the blank space before @, select & cut.

When the content becomes lengthy, the window keeps on going back to the top invariably.

  • Scroll up, tap at the end and hope the blinking cursor to remain there!
  • Incidentally, @StephenAbraham suggested a more decent workaround to overcome this glitch in this post. However, that works well with Gboard only

Every so often for some unknown reason, the message window abruptly closes, & goes back to the home tab.

  • Fortunately, the draft section allows retrieving a saved copy.

There is no preview option

  • I question myself saying why did I open the PWA in the first place. Open a non-chrome browser & start the site again. Here through “Request a desktop site” I can preview the comment.

Have I missed anything?

@C_T Thanks for sharing your ideas for workaround. Useful.

Regarding the focus jumping up to the top of the post for long messages, I think most keyboards have workarounds. @MortenCopenhagen uses Swiftkey and the solution works with Swiftkey as well. Ref to the last few comments on the same post.

Great list @C_T , did you make a suggestion on the Idea Exchange?

Thanks for the suggestion @CatC

Most of the problems are well known and there would be many ideas waiting to see the light of day.

@C_T you are right, I use the pc, and so there are problems, I gave up using mobile phones to edit add or read something in the forum, I do not go into details but I have good phones and good internet signal.
Thanks a lot for making visible the weights we encounter

For many reasons Local Guides is a quirky and clunky @C_T . Using it on a desktop easier and quicker too. Try that.

Hello, @giribpai

Thanks for going through the post.

However, there are situations when you don’t have access to a desktop and then the phone becomes handy. Nevertheless, a palmtop can be an answer to that, but still, that lacks some usefulness of the phone.
