The Soul Of Buenos Aires

I know, is an extremly deep tittle. But as a citizen of Buenos Aires i must tell you about my personal vision of this city.

I don’t live in the center of the city so i am not a real citizen of it. I live in the suburbs near to the river but, affourtnaly, i go almost once a week to the “big” city. And there is were his soul live. Anyone can see it in differents ways and feel it in his own terms, i, personally, choosed the way that talk better of “he

r”. The coffees. As local guide who loves meet that places in his city, i am going to talk about that.

Is not a notice that the standar argentinian love meeting with another, in a particular place, for hours. And one of that traditional places are the coffee shops (called here “Cafeteria”).

And another not new noticee is… the coffe is a trending thing in that town. Starbucks and the “neo” coffee shops are the “cool” thing who compites with the traditional “porteño” places. I don’t really care where you drink or buy your coffee, the thing i am here to talk is another thing. Is a context o an experience.

I feel that my work in guides is tell about this. And in this note i don’t want to talk about an especific place. I want to talk abou a feelling that you need to know. Spoiler Alert: i am not going to tell you about it, is your work found it. I am going to give you the stepts to follow.

Over the years i found the perfect way to describe Buenos Aires and is not with words, is with an experience.
You must go in winter, i personally preffer the cloudy days but a sunny isn’t bad. Start with walk to the city, known his traditional streets, the Colon, the subway, hear some Tango in the Obelisc or just walk like another regular citizen of there. You should lost your mind in the mix, in the different people, in the different languages. You are going to be lost and found with cold and wishes for stop.

Then, in that moment, open your guide, look for a recomend place near to you and enter to the coffee, let the smell transport you, embrace it. Sit next to a window, is important. Order a coffee, i recommend a “cafe con leche” (is like an expresso) with “medialunas” (like a croissant) and just watch. Watch Buenos Aires being alive, being a city with his problems and his crazy things but you are in a stop moment. A moment where there is no problems, just the taste of your coffee and the feel of warm after the cold outside.

I think that is the way you can learn about my city, which is not mine and is not from anybody.
You must read of “her”, walk her, share her and taste it.
