The Scrovegni Chapel is a small church in Padua, Italy, made famous by the fresco cycle of work by Giotto.
Enrico Scroveni, on whose funds the chapel was built, was a wealthy merchant who ordered a house church next to his palazzo.
Giotto’s murals are among the major works of Western art. He managed to create a new type of pictorial thinking. The solutions found by Giotto in this work were actively used by the masters of subsequent generations. This is one of the main gems of European painting, and these frescoes are painted in Padua, a provincial city not far from Venice.
