The rediscovery of balconies during quarantine #Teamitaly

As many of you will know, Italy was one of the first Western countries to suffer from the spread of COVID19.
Although a little bewildered, the whole nation had to implement among the first in Europe the stay-at-home policy.
But the domestic walls are hardly able to hold back the euphoria of the Italians and so it is in this way that Italy has rediscovered (for those who owned one) their balconies.
On balconies and windows, the whole nation has sung united in support of our doctors and nurses (link here), on balconies the whole Italy celebrated Easter and other festivities, young neighbours offered themself to go grocery for the elderly neighbours and chatted with them to keep them company.

Personally I have seen scenes that I would never imagine that my country was capable of showing me,

From my balcony, I saw an entire nation waving the national flag and intoning with one voice the words “Viva l’Italia” (“Long live to Italy!”) and it makes me see, my own motherland, from all another point of view which I never believed was possible.

How about you guys? Do you have any stories you would like to share with us about your life during the lockdown? :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for reading

Bonus video for the most curious

@nicspelgatti what you say is really true! We Italians in times of difficulty bring out a spirit of cohesion, union, patriotism and the desire to solve the most complicated problems. We manage to roll up our sleeves and get to work for the common good and to remain united even just singing from the balconies as you said you! It must be said that unfortunately from the balconies you can also see people who do not follow the rules unfortunately but I believe that “bad apples” exist all over the world … The funniest scene I have seen from my balcony is an elderly gentleman who he went out to the balcony with his coat, scarf and cap on days when there was a temperature of 25 ° C  he observed the situation from his balcony for 30 seconds and immediately went back inside

Thank you @Matt95Bassett to have shared with us your story    Is indeed a bit confusing the weather, we pass from winter to summer without even going out from homes.

I agree with you about the bad apples, few times I did make them notice to go back home otherwise we all go of our home in fall

nice post @nicspelgatti .

I completely agree with @Matt95Bassett : after reading Nicolo’s post I was going to write the same things about the fact the Italians do their best in difficoult situations.

In this respect, and also with the aim of playing down the situation, it is worth mentioning the fact the Italy won the Soccer World Cup in 2006, just in the year of the biggest scandal in the Italian soccer history.
