The Pinnacles Desert

It is interesting but not spectacular. I expected very large and tall columns, and golden wave-like sand dunes. Well, there are none. Nonetheless, I enjoy my day out.

The is only one way in, and one only path to the exit. The park is open 24 hours, and one can enjoy the different scene and mode at different times of the day. There is no light along the path.

The midday can be very hot, and the cloudless sky is deceptively harmful to the skin. The sun is very unforgiving.

There is a viewing lookout platform, and we come here again when the sun is about to set. We stay for quite awhile even the whole park is in complete darkness.

The temperature drops but the desert is not really that cold. The changing hue from yellow orangy colour at the distance slowly to black is undescribly beautiful.

Lying down facing skyward is sensational. Without any glare from man-made lights, we can only see the twinkle of the stars above. I feel so, so small.

Unfortunately, the camera of my Tablet is next to useless to take photos of distant objects in darkness.
