I stumbled with the Local Guide program by chance. After uploading a picture to Google Maps, there came a notification saying I helped others and there was an option to join the program. It was something the barely called my attention by still I joined. At first, I just wanted to earn points and get to the next level as if it were a game, but after just a few reviews and pictures, I had the chance to make a correction to the map. It was a minor change, but there I was, literally changing a map that could be seen by anyone in the world!
Today, I’ve changed my routine so I can visit new places or eat at restaurants I’ve seen on Maps because it opened my scope of the local offerings. Whenever I make an addition, I know a local business will benefit and I’m helping someone be successful. I’ve come to love fact checking because it feels like a game and there are real-life results.
