One of the most common and most popular street foods throughout the Indian subcontinent is pani puri.
In Delhi it is golgappa, in Mumbai paani puri and in Kolkata it’s phuchka.Whatever the name be, but there is certainly no better alternative to beat the heat than these little tangy-minty delights.
Large crisp puris are stuffed with spiced mashed potato, sometimes a little black chana, and it’s topped up with a paani that’s usually hotter and tarter than the paani puri version. You eat it all in one mouthful and, of course, you don’t talk while eating.
Many other inventive and contemporary varieties of the dish can be found throughout India.
The best Puchkas are the ones served on the roadsides. No matter how choosy one gets about food but when it comes to these spicy delights almost every day finds it difficult to resist themselves.
