Being a local guide means helping others with knowledge that I got during my trips. From the excitement that your pictures have been viewed million times or from the message that your review has been marked as helpful.
Most importantly through the involvement in the Local Guides community I have made friends all over the world. It enables me even to do business due to some functionalities that are only possible with Local Guides.
As a traveller I visit loads of places around the world. I love to share those experiences with others. If this is through my own website, YouTube channel or through reviews on Maps or sharing pictures. The best functionality for me is the Lists functionality. It helps me personally to create lists for my holidays. Doing research online, reading reviews from others about attractions and restaurants and marking great places on my Maps in my own list so I could plan my journey in a great way. For example this great Game of Thrones film location list that I made for myself to discover the Game of Thrones shooting locations in Girona.
However, the best thing about these lists is that I can help others as well. I plan trips for others in Japan. Besides giving a written guidebook people will receive a customised list for their trip in Maps. It is great to connect with people on a way about discovering new places.
That is the moral and most important thing about the Local Guide community. Connect with others, share experiences and learn from each other.
