The most interesting thing I've done as a Local Guide

Recently while searching for a route on map (while the kids are screaming and shouting inside the car) I stumbled upon a place called Birla Planetarium https://goo.gl/maps/5PVZL6afgir7VbGfA which I never knew existed my entire life. Keep in mind that I live in the same city for about 30 years now, and just 10 miles away from this place.

I have always zoomed through the mega gates of this property having thought it as just another government building, and not cared to actually read the name board. And this property turned out to be the most cleanest, informative, educating, and fun for me (of course the kids were exited, but we are not talking about them at this moment. Lets focus on my excitement).

I’ve always been in awe of science, technology, mathematics and engineering marvels. This place has all of it, like…

  1. A 3D show and a Planetarium - Explains the solar system and evolution of planet with stunning visuals
  2. There is a park that explains Evolution of human being - from reptiles to neanderthals
  3. Mathematical lab that explains complex equations and calculation techniques
  4. Military Research Museum
  5. Nuclear plants and its placement
  6. Sources of Natural Resources, and
  7. Water Matters
  8. Mechanical Play Structures

I am amazed that the government is not publicising this enough to our children… at the same time, I am glad that at-least now I found a place where knowledge on science and all related fields can be learnt in one place. Thanks to Google Local Guides.

Hi @KSC

Thanks for sharing this nice find.

You may want to remove the picture of your kids for privacy reasons. Likewise we are not supposed to post photos of children on Google Maps.

Cheers

Hello @KSC

Such planetariums are present in most of the Indian metro cities. Your post reminds me of my childhood days when I used to visit the planetarium at kolkata with my parents and be super excited to see the planet show. I would suggest you to take the kids to ‘science city’ too.
