Last winter I started working in a new company. The task was to make everything possible to let people know about it, etc.
As far as I hadn’t found it on Google Maps, the first thing I’ve done was adding that company there. I did it the first day I worked in a company because I believed it was one of the best marketing instruments, so why not?
Two weeks later, I’ve got the letter with a code and I finished the process easily. And here came our boss from Kiev. He came from time to time to check what we’ve done over a period of time. He was furious to know that we both sent the request to Google Maps (about the company) he even sent it a little bit earlier, but mine was accepted and his - not!
He started to shout - it was my code, why did you enter it? Oh, my gosh! Stay calm, dude - there is my name on an envelope and the e-mail, etc. You can’t enter somebody else’s code!
The guy couldn’t overcome the silliness of his actions. (The whole office had heard the talk). And as far as all of his actions later on were same “wise” as this one, I quit…
P.S. It’s just one of the stories that happened to me being a Local Guide. I got used to adding the reviews so much that it feels like an ordinary thing. Though, when I think of it as actually having a possibility to improve and change one of the most powerful Google products - Google Maps, I realize the whole importance and beauty of the process.
I’ve always dreamt to work in Google (same as millions of other Earth inhabitants). Even though I’m not yet an employee of this company, I already feel a member whose contribution is important and valued accordingly.
The funniest thing is that people in my city started to ask me the information about all the places as if I’m the only one who owns the info ![]()
P.P.S. I will add the first version of my 2020 application video. It’s more than 1 minute, so I’ll prepare a shorter one. Let me know your opinion in the comments. Thank you! ![]()
