For a long time I would only rarely or sparsely contribute to ‘review sites’ because I figured no one would read or take into account what I had to say. It wasn’t until one of my favourite lunch spots downtown Toronto noticed I had been taking photos of their establishment and food (I’d been getting back into photography), and had asked me to post on Google Reviews that I had even thought of utilizing Google for food photos/reviews. I thought, it couldn’t hurt, so off I went uploading some photos. I didn’t think much of it until a few months later when I started to receive the “X # of people have viewed your photos” emails. I thought they were spammy to be honest, but when I clicked on one I realized one of my photos had been viewed over 20,000 times! And my total photo views are over 100,000! I thought that was amazing, and I was shocked to see how my reviews on that lunch spot, and all its sibling franchise locations (which I also reviewed and posted) were liked! It was obvious: I had connected to people, and connected those people to information. Ever since I’ve been supporting local businesses, and not just the ones in my city but my favourite places during my many travels.
