My name is Katia and I am a local guide level 7 from Nicaragua.
I have been a local guide for one year, during this time, I learned a lot about this amazing platform.
One of the things I love to do is traveling and exploring new places around the world.
For me, the most interesting thing I´ve done as a local guide is to share my experience of the places I go, so I can help others with my reviews and pictures.
When you are in a city that you never been before, google maps can guide you to that charming hotel in the center, to a romantic restaurant with delicious food or to a hidden shop where you buy that special gift.
I am a proud local guide and what I love to share with travelers is six things: The location, the decoration, the ambiance, the price, the good service and the type of food when it is a restaurant.
I truly believe that it is important to leave an honest review of your experience.
An honest review is beneficial for all parts, for example in a restaurant: The visitor will find the most convenient restaurant to have vegan or local food. And this will help the owners to know if you are satisfied or if there is something that needs to be improved.
As a freelance photographer, what motivates me to keep sharing pictures is when I get notifications on my email about “Your photo is making a difference” and that the photo has helped people over 90,000 times.
It is incredible how a business that is registered in google maps has a great boost through the reviews and photos of the people who visit it.
An example of this was when a friend opened a Korean restaurant in the city center of Bratislava some months ago. He invited me to the opening. The first thing I told him in the opening was to add his restaurant in google maps with the phone number, description and hours of operation. After he registered his restaurant, I was one of the first persons to add a review and post pictures.
Thanks to google maps a lot of people came to the restaurant and my friend didn’t have to make a big investment in advertising on social networks.

Writing about each place that I go and taking pictures has become a habit for me. And this is how step by step I have reached level 7.
