The most interesting thing I've done as a Local Guide:Holding a graduation trip

Hi

I am Lucia, a level-7 Local Guide from New Taipei City, Taiwan.

When I was a junior in university, I hosted a two-week graduation trip to Japan in my class. The reason I wanted to do it was simply because I was passionate about experience different cultures through travel.

As I was planning the trip, I went through a lot of travel books and magazines. Then I labeled tourist attractions, restaurants and hotels on Google Maps and created My Maps for the very first time.

It was absolutely helpful. I easily categorized different kinds of places with various labels and icons. And I could even arrange My Maps with orders and dates, so my classmates wouldn’t be confused by all the spots on maps.

Thanks to My Maps, the trip was definitely successful and unforgettable for all of us. We explored lots of local attractions in the Kansai region, Japan. Here are some of the most impressive locations as follows.

- Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge in Hyogo

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the world’s largest suspension bridge, with a 300-meter main tower above sea level. You can cross the maintenance path in the bridge girder and have a 360-degree panorama from the top.

Even though you are far from the bridge, you can feel it is such breathtaking artwork. Having a chance to see the bridge in person is an experience that words can’t express.

Visit Akashi Bridge, the world’s longest bridge, to have an exciting experience. Don’t forget to book a walking tour in advance.

- Cup Noodles Museum in Osaka Ikeda

In 1958, Momofuku Ando invented the world’s first instant noodles, Chicken Ramen, in Ikeda, Osaka, Japan. The Cupnoodles museum introduces the history of instant noodles, a new global food culture.

Walking through the instant noodles tunnel, you can make a cup of Ramen by hand, from drawing the cup to seasoning the noodles. What a wonderful journey!

- FARM TO TABLE 十四階農園 in Wakayama

The 14th Floor Farm, called Farm To Table十四農園, is a cafeteria located on the top floor of Wakayama City Hall where you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet with Wakayama local beer.

Here staffs only provide fresh vegetables and keep meals healthy and delicious at the same time. You can have a delicate Japanese lunch, including vegetables, rice, soup, or even some ice cream, and feel like a local.

The most important thing is that you will capture the stunning scenery while eating since Wakayama Castle is just across the street. Using chopsticks, overlooking the mind-blowing castle and immersing yourselves into Japanese culture.

- Kishigawa Train Line in Kinokawa

The Kishigama Train Line gives a look of beautiful Wakayama neighborhoods. There are two cats serve as “Kishi stationmaster” in different train stations. You can choose from three kinds of cat-themed carriages and have a cup of coffee in a cat café. It is certainly the paradise for the cat lovers.

Sharing all the spectacular moments with Google Maps users is what improves my skills and makes me become a better person.

I hope my contribution can help other travelers and inspire them to post on Google Maps as well.
