The most interesting thing I’ve done as a local guide is simply explore. I’ve come across all different kinds of things I know I probably wouldn’t have had I not been involved as a Local Guide or at least figured out how it even works.
I used local guides to figure out where I wanted to eat for my fiance and I’s first date. The food was honestly just okay as predicted based off of fellow reviews, but you can imagine that the day went well because I later said yes!
I also used Local Guides when I made a trip to Austin, TX since I was looking for fun things to do. Local Guides was full of recommendations and I eventually actually compiled a list of everything I wanted to do based off of what local guides recommended. We went to the graffiti wall, checked out the capital of course, longhorn caverns, and unfortunately we didn’t get to see the bats under congress bridge but it was a unique experience I won’t forget.
I think my family and friends have also noticed there seems to be an uptick overtime of pictures of flowers and animals. In general I have been taking a lot more pictures then I used to in the event I might get to share it with others that would benefit seeing the photos. Whether it be them trying to decide if the activity is worth the money or if the scenery in the area might be reason enough alone to visit the place. I kind of went through a small photography phase and I didn’t have a great camera but I was still able to get some shots I was pretty proud of.
I love sharing not only my experience but the area around it and the different details involved. Whether it be something as simple as the restroom door being busted to the chair being really soft!
