Hello local guides!
I’m Maisha, a Bangladeshi local guide. This is my story of doing the most interesting things as a local guide.
Reviewing on Maps: About 3.5 years ago, I started using maps on full fledge to find restaurants and learnt about the review and rating section. As a person who loves traveling and trying new foods, I also wanted to share my experience with people as much as possible; so that, they can decide if the place is good for them or not. So I have always tried to write clearly what I liked and disliked about restaurants and foods. These are examples of my review :
Making restaurant lists: As a foodie local guide, the listing system is like a blessing for me. I usually make restaurant lists according to cuisine, price point or food type. Whether you want to try Bangladeshi food, Chinese food, fusion Asian, Japanese, or some upscale place to go and spend quality time with your loved ones; lists always make it easy to choose from a certain selection. This made my life easy and I hope it will help other people to choose the best place to go. As an example, people have different preferences over coffee. So I made a list of best coffee shops in Dhaka with their coffee types shortly briefed in the description :
Traveling and guiding: As a solo woman traveler, it is always a concern for me if a place is safe enough for me or not. I can also understand that it is a concern for so many women around the world. That’s why the local guide program is the place where I share my experiences and thoughts about different places, review them accordingly so that all of us can travel prepared and see this beautiful world safely.
Community and meetups: By joining the local guide program, I have found an amazing community in my country. Everyone in this community is very helpful and welcoming. The meetups and photo-walks arranged by the community are not only very informative and malleable, but also really fun; full of laughs, sharing and caring. Some photos of meetups attended by me are given below :
So far, it has been an amazing journey as a local guide and hope to guide people more, share more, learn more in the future. Happy guiding!
