Apart from Adding Places which gave visibility to those businesses and places which were earlier hidden from the entire world, the most interesting thing I’ve done as a Local Guide is to edit places on Google Maps.
Most of the people often add places casually. They either don’t provide complete and correct information or provide wrong and false information. Also, when places are added the most common mistake people make is spelling mistake.
As a local guide, I edited many places in which either spellings were incorrect or their timings were incorrect or not mentioned. I actually went to the places which I edited. Some places were shifted to other location so I edited them accordingly.
Just imagine, you find such place on the Google map and after travelling when you visit there at the place then you see that either such place has been closed permanently or shifted to another place. How will you feel? I took the initiative to search places, actually visited there and accordingly made necessary changes.
Earlier, I was using Google Map only to find the places where I intended to go but once when I was sitting idle, I started exploring the features and I found very interesting that I can also make an impact on my surrounding by adding places to the Google Maps. When I was adding places, then I came to know that places which are already existing on the Google Map have some faults either the name of location is incorrect or timing or address etc. is wrongly mentioned then I started editing the existing places.
It gives me immense pleasure to edit the place with correct information up to the satisfaction of end-user. There were such experiences when I feltsmile 
on small scale shop-keepers and business owners at the time of clicking photographs of their places and adding them to the Google Map. I have been able to help small shopkeepers by adding their business on the Google Map. I have been able to help customers who have specific requirements by making reviews so that they can take their decisions accordingly.
It is rightly said that, every drop in the ocean counts. ADDING new places and EDITING existing places on the Google Map is a dynamic way to make an impact and I feel very happy in doing so by contributing more and more to the society.
