The most interesting thing I’ve done as a local guide

  • I work for State Bank Of India, which is the largest bank in india. My job is to take care of branches of the bank across the region during hectic times(i.e., During Internal Audit, New Upgrades) to assist them that means I had to travel to a new branch in a new place almost every other week. I guess this job is something which every local guide would kill for, going to a new place every week and meeting new people, of course get to taste different cuisines across the state that I am in. Coming to the interesting thing that I’ve done as local guide, one day I was assigned to go a different branch where I have never been to before. I opened my google maps and tried searching for the branch only to find that no one has added that in maps. I felt worried about thereabouts of the branch and used to conventional way of finding a place asking local people and eventually reached the branch an hour later which would have taken me not more 20 minutes if have got that branch’s location on my first search in the maps. The first thing i did after reaching that branch, I didn’t even wait for me to enter into my cabin instead i was just standing at the entrance and opened google maps and added that particular branch of state bank of India in the google maps(which is still pending though. From that day to this day on, The first thing I check in my mobile after reaching a place any is, whether that place has a place in google maps. If no I would to try to add it, to help others!!

Thank you Google for changing the way we connect to a place!!

Hello @Dinudeep

Though SBI has a bank locator page, it’s sad that location is never shown on a Map.

BTW, the Neikarapatti branch photo now bears a place label as “Unknown”. Has the branch closed?

Further, it’s an unfair practice to review current or previous employers.

The maps user contribution policy states that clearly at this link. https://support.google.com/contributionpolicy/answer/7400114?hl=en

"Maps user contributed content is most valuable when it is honest and unbiased. Examples of disallowed practices include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing your own business.
  • Posting content about a current or former employment experience.
  • Posting content about a competitor to manipulate their ratings."

Thus, even if you do not remain an employee of SBI, you can never review that & need to take down all the reviews. Even if you are a customer of SBI, you need to keep the interests separated at an arms length.

Do correct the typo at cuisines*, because cousins add a completely wrong meaning to it. Good Day!

Nope, he didn’t review the place, he only added it on a map, which I think is a great thing to do !

Thanks C_T but I have never reviewed any branches that I’ve been to any day, I have just deleted those ratings that i had given unintentionally without knowing the rule!!! Thanks for letting it know.
