I’m very thankful to my friend Zainab for introducing me to Uroy who gave me more insight on the google local guide program .
I have always wanted my pictures and reviews of places I’ve visited to reach a wide range of people by helping them make better decisions as for things like where to eat, where to shop , how to find specific places as a content creator and photographer .
Since I signed up as a contributor I have loved every step of the journey. The most interesting thing I have done as a google local guide was bringing variety of people first hand information through my experience and introducing them directly to places and spots for their day to day needs, entertainments, and cravings. I remembered vividly when I visited the local art market in Abuja and I took captivating images of the market, people, and their handmade crafts; I put it out on Instagram and to my surprise I got a lot of feedback from people wanting to go back to the location to buy hand made crafted art directly from the local market designers.
My passion has always been helping SMEs and the Google Map has helped me to greatly achieve that by adding their businesses in the map thereby giving them more visibility. In my subsequent visit I met one of the vendors whom I captured in my photos collections the first time I visited and he was telling me how in the past week he got more customers coming in to pick up his Rafia made hand bags and that put a huge smile on my face with a sense of fulfillment.
