Local guides helps me to explore places around me, discover new restaurants and most especially it helps me to know my way around when i visit a new country. The most interesting thing i have done as a Local guide is writing reviews. When i write a review for a restaurant, cafe or hotel; i see that as my contribution to the business for providing me with a nice stay, and but also helping out the next person who will be staying or eating there.
I feel an immense amount of satisfaction when i receive an email in my inbox, informing me that my review for a hotel or restaurant that i recently reviewed is making a difference. For example, i visited Juba in South Sudan in August of 2019. While there, i wrote a review and shared some photos. Over 100 people read my review, and my photos were seen by over 1,500 people. South Sudan is a difficult place to visit, not a lot of people get the opportunity to visit the country, i therefore decided that i should write a review and show people what’s like.
When i visit new places, whether it’s my country of Rwanda or anywhere in the world. I like to share photos on Google Maps for other people who may not have the chance to visit. My photos have been viewed by over 4,000 people! Which makes proud that i am making a difference.
Writing reviews and posting photos is my way of helping fellow travelers and also helping those who don’t have the opportunity to travel. Reviewing cafe and restaurant is my way of helping business grow and improve.
