The capital city Dhaka has more than 14 million people and to cater to the residential demand, apartment building, residential complex and condominiums are mushrooming throughout the city. But the dwellers and/or owners of these real estates are not aware to put them on Google Maps. So most of the time, the residents of these apartments call Uber and mention the nearest landmark as their pick-up/drop off points which is almost 200-400 meters away from the desired place. As a result, the people either walk this distance or request the Uber driver to drive extra (as they might have multiple luggage, kids or elderly family members, rain, etc.) from the marked endpoint on the
Uber map. Sometimes, it creates awkward situations between passengers & Uber drivers.Last year, I visited Dhaka, for looking after some official & personal assignments. During my stay in Dhaka a couple of days, I faced the same experiences while locating my relatives’ residences. I took that opportunity and added those missing places on Google Maps instantly. From that time onward, my relatives are very much happy with these additions while taking services Uber. They also can share their address via WhatsApp or other social media to convey their exact location.
Eventually, the other residents of those apartment buildings and their F&F as well are also getting the benefits. My relatives feel very proud of me and introduced me to their neighbors in my recent visit as an avatar who relieves them from permanent pain.
This is an example of how Google Maps & local guides bring happiness & help the communities!
