I have been a local guide for about 2 years now. One of the most interesting things I have as a local guide Kenya is editing the locations. Am fairly good at following maps to destinations and in the process I discovered several erroneous locations. I took it upon myself to help other people like me to find awesome places.
One of the places I edited is Maya Gardens Sagana (Hotel). The first time I visited this hotel was at night and I really experienced a challenge finding it since it had a duplicate location which was also wrong. I found myself in someone’s gate. Luckily I was helped by a local taxi guy to find the place.
A picture I took at Maya Gardens Hotel when I Finally Arrived That NightSeveral months later, after I shared the pictures of this beautiful hotel especially the gardens, my friends requested me to take them there. Unfortunately one of my friends (Willy) could not join us that evening but had to come the following day. I was confident enough the following day when I told him to follow Google Maps. He made it to the hotel safely. That is why I love Local Guides because they make life really easy for people.
The other interesting thing I have done as Local Guide is that I have added new awesome places. One such place is Pizza Mojo. This is a cool fast food restaurant in Nairobi that offers some nice food. Did I say they always offer 2 pizzas at the price of 1? Yes they do. Their milkshake is awesome too. After I recently added this place it has received about 2876 views.
I have added other wonderful places which include natural features such as waterfalls e.g the hidden majestic Ndaragwa Falls which has since received more than 4756 views. Sometimes Local Guides makes me feel like those ancient explorers like Vasco Da Gama. A very good feeling but what matters most is helping other people.
The hidden majestic Ndaragwa Falls I went exploring and added to Google Maps
My name is Amos and Local Guides motivated me to start a traveling channel (Calm Explorer) to share more awesome destinations with people. It’s so sad that currently most of us have to stay at home instead of finding new places in order to curb Covid-19. Together we shall overcome!
Long live Local Guides! Long Live Google Maps!
