When I started as a Local Guide, I would upload photos, reviews, and answer questions of places I visited to help others. It was quite satisfying to receive some very positive feedback from users, and encouraging messages from Google maps.
However, the icing on the cake for me was when I began adding new places to Google maps. This was very useful, as users could now locate these places on the map, and some became aware of places they did not know about earlier. It has also helped people who have started small stores and not invested in advertisements. I would like to share my experience about two places that I added to Google maps.

St. Stephen’s Hospital chapel: When I visited St. Stephen’s Hospital last year, I was told that the hospital campus has a chapel. This was very comforting, as the nearest church was a few miles away from the hospital. I decided to add the location of the chapel to Google maps so it would serve as useful information for those who wanted to pray and meditate.
After a few days, I decided to add all the chapels I knew about in Delhi. Since photography is prohibited in most of the chapels, I could not take photos. I feel that by adding the location of 7 chapels in Delhi I have helped others in meeting their spiritual needs. In my opinion, places of worship, whether big or small, are always appealing to believers and therefore I prefer not to rate them. -
Turquoise Turkish Ice-cream: My visit to this ice cream kiosk was very interesting, and I wanted to share my experience with others. The kiosk has a very unique and attractive way of serving ice cream. The ice-cream servers twirl and turn the ice-cream in a fun way, before handing it over. I added this place to Google maps, along with photos and interesting videos. I was happy to learn that the videos have attracted more customers to this growing business.
Ever since I’ve become a Local Guide, I’ve also used my vacation experiences to help others. A number of my photos are the featured photos on Google maps. I also enjoy posting photos and reviewing kid-friendly places. It is a pleasure to help other parents understand a place they plan to visit. Being among the top 1% of Local Guides in New Delhi is very gratifying as it means my contributions have made an impact and helped others.
