The most interesting thing I have done as a Local Guide

As a local guide I use several features in my contributions, so there are many interesting acts or things I have done for Google Maps app.

And which is the most interesting one? Hmm…Well, among my last works I can choose the autumn ones when I realized what might be more usefull for everyone who use this app.

First of all I started by mapping Brasília’s metro stations focusing on accessibility, facilities and services.

Besides uploading photos, recording videos, I tried to describe most of its features in my reviews.

About accessibility I mentioned/showed lifts, escalators, ramps for disabled or people with limited mobility, ceramic movement indicators on the floor for blind people, metro network orientation maps in Braille, information & display boards, bike racks for cyclist, etc…

Regarding facilities and services on the spot I wrote about public toilets, ticket offices, ATMs, shops and much more.

Image of the outdoor entrance to the metro station 102 Sul in Brasília provided by lift exclusively for disabled, people with limited mobility, mothers with children & old people.

Image of another outdoor entrance to the metro station 102 Sul in Brasília provided by stairs with ceramic movement indicators on the floor for blind people.

Image of the beginning of access ramp for disabled, people with limited mobility, mothers with strollers inside of the subway lobby.

Image of the bike racks’ area for cyclist inside of the subway lobby at 102 Sul station in Brasília.

Image of the metro network orientation map in Braill for blind people inside of the subway lobby.

Image of ticket offices inside of the subway lobby at DF Metrô station in Brasília.

Afterwards I continued exploring what a city park could offer. So I mapped out sport grounds as well as fitness courts, then, of course, all public toilet points, its accessibility, showers to refresh and drinking water resources provided on the spot.

Image of one public toilet point in the City park of Sarah Kubitschek (Brasília) with access ramp for disabled. Next to it passes a cycling track. There is nice weather, blue sky with white clouds, fresh green grass and Mangueira trees all around.

I think this way I may help and approach many sites on Google Maps for all of us, even if you have any kind of disability.

My life changed a lot by contributing to this app.

Now everywhere I go, I analyze a spot this way: “Alright, here is the entrance. Hmm, where there is any ramp? Is an elevator here?” :slightly_smiling_face:

Or when I use toilets: “Okay, obviously this place is clean, smells nice, …Uhmm, I like the music they play!” :slightly_smiling_face:

Before, I just used toilets, hardly paying attention to them.

Yes, this is definitely the most interesting thing I have done as a local guide so far!
