What’s the most interesting thing I have done as a Local Guide?

Well, Google Maps has always shown me the way and I’ve made an impact through places I have created on Google Maps overtime. Also, I have edited places, which have been super impactful to others. I even reply to some questions here and there to provide help for those in need at the moment or later.

Here’s a look at some of the places I’ve added and my impact:

Kandt House Museum

There are two main places to see in the museum — the main house, which contains much of Rwanda’s history, and the reptile park, which has snakes and crocodiles.

It was my first visit to a museum in Rwanda so I took my time going around. The house has three main exhibits.

The first part presents the social, economic and political aspects of Rwandan life, and the monarchy before the colonial period.

The museum shows the evolution of the standards of living, the flora and fauna of natural forests, and geological features.

The second part, which is also the biggest, traces the experiences of the Rwandan people during the colonial period.

It outlines their history specifically under the German rule from 1884, World War I and Rwanda’s involvement up to 1916, and Kandt’s life.

The third part of the exhibit documents Kigali before and during the colonial period, and its renaissance as a capital.

The guide then took me outdoors where there was a large statue of a gorilla and an enclosure with a baby Nile crocodile — about one and a half metres long — soaking up the sun.

The guide then led me to a small room made of wood, which has snakes in glass enclosures. Inside lay some of the deadliest of African snakes.

They seemed well fed and did not require a lot of space. I had never been so close to the Black Mamba, Gabon viper, python and the spitting cobra.

KFC Remera As a KFC devoted lover, keep in mind I have visited 2 other KFCs in Kenya and Uganda

Here is my review @KFCinRwanda

× Krushers :ok_hand: :yum: :ok_hand: count me in rwose(ingredients, quantity, Thickness is just IT) but please bring the big straws, not spoons.

×The Chicken :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face: not yet, ntibiraza bien, the “crunchiness”

×Drive-through service is perfect :ok_hand:

I love also knowing how many people I’ve helped on google maps those numbers are tempting to continue helping people out. People love to leave likes and comment on answers or posts which reminds me that I’m the one who added it to Google Maps to help others. Besides, that does put a smile on my face definitely and earn me more points I like to be ahead of everyone here in Rwanda lol.

Adding new places to Google Maps is a dynamic way to make an impact. Through this small action, I’m able to help a customer in need find what they’re looking for; help a small business grow, or make a new friend. I’m grateful for a map that serves people worldwide while also being maintained with constantly updated data by those same people. Adding places—and the impact those places have had—is the most interesting thing I’ve done as a Local Guide!
