I have a deep passion for place creation because the joy and happiness expressed by those who saw their businesses on the google map motivates me to want to do even more in adding local businesses on the map. Such feelings convinced me that i am impacting positively through my contributions especially on the place creation. Many persons are just waking up to the awesome realities and possibilities of the internet technology; especially the invaluable impacts of the google map. The several appreciations and positive feedbacks i have received from individuals i added their businesses to the map is enough encouragement for me. I will site few of the reactions i have received in the recent times.

Dr Dike is an Experienced Optician with a modest office not far away from my house but i never knew there was an Optical service at that location. The day I went to fix my car tyre, I approached him and after few interactions i added the office to the map and it got applied and approved. After a period of 5 months i went back to inflate my tire and he saw me, took me to his office offer me a soft drink and was very happy that many are locating his office through the map. I introduced him to the google my business and its benefits. Out of happiness, he promised to compensate me with a paint production job.

I discovered this local Restaurant sometimes in June 2019. After enjoying a Delicious meal I told her that i can add her business online, being that it’s along the major road, travellers can easily access the restaurant. I added it and it got approved. We had a BOLE CRAWL meet up in her restaurant two months later and she was very happy and even indicated interest in joining the Port Harcourt Local Guide Group.
Last December she called me and gave me a customised utensil in appreciation of numerous customers finding her place through the map. I was very joyful that my voluntary service is yielding a positive remark.
UNIPORT JUNCTION MARKET
University of Port Harcourt Junction Market sells nice and good species of food stuffs at a cheaper rate; But it’s Hidden Away From Many new students. In fact when I got admission there in 2010, it took me almost 6 months to know that such a market is located there. Creating this market in the Map has helped a lot of students find their way to the market and get to know what is sold there. Currently there are 290 reviews mainly from students just within two years of creating it. Reading these reviews makes me feel I have contributed meaningfully.
There are many other created places with positive remarks as well.
Looking back, seeing how creating places can improve the local businesses have motivated me to work harder. This year alone I have added more than 130 approved places and a combined total of 240 which is getting me closer to my 580 target before the year ends.
