Have you met an old friend at the least- expected way before? Well, that’s how local guides surprised me.
The story went back to last November, when I decided to get myself a skateboard as my birthday present. Skateboarding has been on my to- do- list since many years ago. To me, it’s a great outdoor activity with lots of fun and it looks awesome while doing skills.
There’s only 1 problem: I needed an instruction course, and some friends suggest that I should browse the reviews on Google map. “Maybe you can find a board shop offering course or someone who’s interested in instruction also.” that’s what they told me. After checking the reviews, I decided to get my skateboard and instruction at Zaza Board Shop which I highly recommend by the way.
Then I met Wang- Yi, an old friend of mine, during the instruction section. Back to the days I lived in Spain, she and I often attended reunions of Taiwanese students. The thing is we didn’t talk much and we haven’t seen each other after the semester. As far as I could recall, she’s a bit shy nor a talkative person. Outgoing or outdoor activities would never be connected with her if you’d ask me. She later explained that she decided to give it a try after seeing lots of positive reviews of skateboarding. I didn’t expect I would meet someone I knew at the instruction, especially a person I haven’t seen for a while. It’s just surprising!
It is one of my favorite photos with her!
At the next day, we decided to skateboard together. We found a great spot for skateboarding called “DaJia riverside park” which is near the board shop and also highly valued by local guides on Google map.
This is the photo she took for me at the riverside park!
Since then, we often skateboard or practice skills together! I guess there’s something behind this, probably local guides. Thanks to Google map and all the local guides, I found a great board shop and spot to skateboard; most importantly, I met an old friend again!
