The most interesting thing about being a Google Local Guide is that it has given people like me the opportunity to discover places around the world and sharing that to others as well as meeting like-minded individuals who share the same passion of travelling and sharing with the community. Not only that, but there’s a sense of wonder and excitement about being a google local guide on how I can travel as far as I can go, and to share my experiences to others. Google local guide has pushed me to the limitations that I know, and has helped me see the world in a much bigger picture and knowing that places are more accessible now than ever before.
There is a lot of beauty in the world, you just have to go out there, to discover for yourself and to experience.
In addition, what I love about being a google local guide is that I was able to add places to my local city in Cagayan de Oro City, a fairly small city with a lot of small business which are not yet established in the google map. So far, I have added two:
- Oro Pharmacy: I have added this place back in 2015 for the reason of helping business owners to establish their business online. Especially now, at times of a global pandemic like the Coronavirus, this will help people know that there is actually a chemist around the area. Having added this place, has helped this small business reach out to people as well as to give their health products and services to the community.
- Golden Icon Pawnshop: I have also added this place back in 2015, since they are located in a small corner tucked away at a more quiet part of the city, they have had problems finding clients and customers. Having added them on google map has paved the way for them to be seen and for their customers to be able to find them online.
Adding these business in the map is able to make a big impact in the city for its development and growth, I also love the fact that I’m able to contribute and help the community in ways I can and even in something as small as adding places on google map, I believe that can do a big difference. With google local guide, it has been an outlet for me to share, to learn, to grow and to live.
