The most beautiful bridge I've ever seen

Recently I had an opportunity to visit Porto in Portugal. This is a unique ancient city that is famous for its port wine.

Porto presently has six bridges across the River Douro, but the most beautiful and famous of Porto’s bridges is the historic Ponte Dom Luís I Bridge.

The Luís I Bridge was opened in 1886 and named after the king. The architect was not just anyone, but Gustave Eiffel’s student and companion, Théophile Cyrig.

Externally, the metal bridge looks very interesting - it is two-level. The first level (lower) is for cars, the second (upper) is for metro trains. They haven’t forgotten about pedestrians either - you can walk along both levels. Special paths are provided for this. Many travelers note that this is one of the best observation decks in Porto.

In 2019, European Best Destinations recognized the D.Luís I Bridge as one of the 15 most beautiful in Europe, along with the Tower Bridge in London and the Ponte Vecchio in Florence. And this is truly one of the most picturesque places in Porto.

Everyone is impressed by this bridge. I spent the whole day just walking on and along the bridge and admiring the astonishing views.

This is a truly grandiose structure that is worth seeing with your own eyes.

Thank you for your attention
