There are too many fake news these days. Even if it is not fake on purpose, wrong information is prevail. It also exactly applies to tourism industry. Frequently the information I found on the guide book or blogs often made me disappointed. A famous ethnic restaurant in Taipei that I found on the blogs was totally irrelevant to local food. Also it was not even famous at Taiwan. Or what about the cons at Chao Phraya river port at Bangkok. I went to Sathorn Pier to ride a ferry to visit Asiatique shopping mall. A lady asked me whether I’m going to Asiantique and I said yes. Then she said it costs 50 baht per person for ferry ride. I paid for it. But people kept going to adjacent pier. The truth was there was a free ferry for Asiantique and the con lady used other pier (which is closer to MRT station) and lured travelers to rip off. There must be hundreds of thousands of victims just like me. The information on the net or guide books is often outdated or advertisement. There are also many cons to rip you off. All of these misfortune comes from lack of information. Even the rational people get confused when they go abroad.
Therefore, at some point I started to share reviews on the places where I traveled. It could be a hidden restaurant or it could be a useful tips to travel. I once reviewed a hidden restaurant in Prague. I heard about this koleno restaurant from airbnb host by chance. The restaurant was perfect. Its service, the food, atmosphere, everything was perfect. So I reviewed on google maps to herald this place. I also reviewed that could help people to travel more easily. There is a bus from Salzburg to Bad Ischl, Austria. And on the way to Bad Ischl ,there is a small city called Sankt Gilgen which is really beautiful lake village. There is a ferry that crosses the lake. At the other side of lake, there is another village called Strobl. I was traveling from Salzburg to Bad Ischl. But I really really wanted to see the Sankt Gilgen and ride a ferry on Wolfgang lake which is really big beautiful. So I wanted to know whether I could ride a ferry from Sankt Gilgen to Strobl and hop on bus to Bad Ischl at Strobl so that I could save the time and energy(me and my girlfriend were carrying a big suitcases). but there was no information at all. No information on google maps and google search. So I was not certain about it so I rode a round trip ferry and rode the same bus at Sankt Gilgen. But the thing is that the bus went directly to Strobl. So I realized that I could ride the same bus at the other side of the lake. To help people to travel beautiful Sank Gilgen I also reviewed about it on google maps.
Though it is kind of sad that google maps reviews don’t appear until the users search for it, I believe I helped a lot of people to have more comfortable travel. Though it does not give me any rewards but the local guide points, it gives me some kind of feeling that I’m helping people. Maybe that is feeling keep me to write reviews on google maps
