The minority you don't know

Most of the time I hear someone recommending a place to a tourist, it’s a expensive and “popular” place. And if nobody told these visitors about those places they will naturally reach them because those are the ones that have full information on the most popular map visualizer application, which is Google Maps.

When I found out I could help as a local guide to let other people know about competent small businesses I decided I would do it as frequently as I could. So I started with the surroundings of my university (UNI) that included a cafe and a few bars to start. Then I discovered some clothing stores and a pharmacy. When some of my friends saw me doing that, they started wondering why did I have such an interest on these places that were considered a care-less minority for the big mappers around and that’s when I realized I was doing it precisely because of that. I think that everybody who’s making a big effort to succeed deserves to have the opportunity of being “re-discovered” by many other people and somehow that would make them grow faster.

Now I think about adding all these missing places not just for the foreign visitors but for the native population that is not aware of how many good options they have.
